A delegation of Riyadh Municipality<\/a><\/strong> An exploratory visit to Sydney, Australia, as part of a specialized program to learn about international experiences in Urban planning<\/a><\/strong> Integrated urbanization, population growth management, infrastructure development, and sustainability, supporting the development of municipal policies and practices in Riyadh.<\/p>\n

The visit program began with a briefing on the experience of the Liverpool City Council, one of the fastest growing areas in Western Sydney, which reviewed the strategic framework for long-term planning, mechanisms for dealing with rapid urban expansion, linking planning to land use, diversifying the economic base, and enhancing the city's role as a logistics gateway linked to Western Sydney International Airport.<\/p>\n

The delegation was briefed on urban performance indicators and the planning model based on education, innovation, medical sector and logistics, as well as the development of green and connected urban environments, with a focus on affordable housing, quality of life and sustainability of neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

The visit included the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal, where the role of major logistics infrastructure in reshaping urban development patterns, shifting freight traffic from road to rail, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing integration with industrial areas, the airport, and the aerotropolis was explored.<\/p>\n

In the strategic infrastructure pillar, the delegation visited Western Sydney International Airport and learned about the model of developing airports as economic engines and the mechanisms of integrating Urban planning<\/a> <\/strong>transportation networks, phased expansion of projects, implementation of highly efficient digital operating systems, and environmental sustainability practices.<\/p>\n

The program included a visit to Breadfield City and advanced manufacturing facilities, where the delegation learned about the experience of building a new city from scratch, based on the integration of industry, research and innovation, skills development, and attracting investments in advanced sectors.<\/p>\n

The visit included residential projects that adopt the build-to-rent model, waste management systems and the circular economy, sorting and recycling mechanisms, and experiences of converting waste into reusable products.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the visit program, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Sydney received the Riyadh Municipality delegation in the Consul General's lounge, within the framework of strengthening institutional communication and confirming the diplomatic mission's support for the Municipality's external programs and international experience exchange.<\/p>\n

It is noteworthy that this visit comes as an extension of the Riyadh Municipality's strategy to develop the urban planning system and adopt the best international practices, in order to contribute to improving the quality of life in Riyadh, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
