His Excellency the Minister of Transportation and Logistics, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al Jasser, inaugurated today the seventh edition of the Supply Chain and Logistics Conference<\/a><\/strong> The event was attended by a number of ministers, senior officials, heads of companies operating in the supply chain and logistics sector, representatives of government agencies and the private sector, those interested in developing the logistics sector, industry leaders and investors, as well as a number of ambassadors and representatives of international and local organizations.<\/p>\n

In his speech at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Transportation and Logistics emphasized the importance of reshaping Supply chains<\/a><\/strong> Through new strategic partnerships to address the radical transformations witnessed by the sector, which is the backbone of the modern economy.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that this year's conference is held in light of the reality formed on the land of the Kingdom thanks to the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the support and empowerment of His Highness the Crown Prince - may God protect them - as the future of the transportation and logistics sector in the Kingdom has become a realized path on the ground, and a reality that is spoken about by national and international indicators, foremost among which are investment commitments from the local and international private sector exceeding 280 billion riyals, increasing the direct contribution of transportation and storage activities to the national output 6.2%, and the growth rate of air freight by 34% compared to the previous year to 1.2 million tons.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Transport pointed out that the aviation and air transport sector has entered an unprecedented historical expansion phase, whether in terms of developing airports or the airline fleet, as well as the increase in the number of logistics centers this year to 24 to support economic diversification, in addition to achieving great achievements in the field of supply chains until the Kingdom became an active partner in securing global supply chains.<\/p>\n

He attributed the achievements to the great support provided by the wise leadership and the structural reforms that paved the way towards achieving the goals, which became a tangible reality thanks to Vision 2030 and the implementation of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.<\/p>\n

He pointed to the transition to a new stage of achieving the goals after achieving a great leap in the Global Logistics Index issued by the World Bank in 23, in which the Kingdom advanced 17 positions, as the new goals include entering the list of the top 10 countries in the index.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Transport and Logistics highlighted the Kingdom's advancement to the top four ranks among the world's emerging markets in the 50-country Agility Logistics Emerging Markets 2025 Index, thanks to huge investments in the logistics sector and the extensive digitalization of trade.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Kingdom has become a key pillar in ensuring and securing global supply chains and an important axis in the Arab integration of this sector to ensure the security and stability of supply chains, in light of the current international challenges,\u201d he said.\u201d<\/p>\n

He pointed out that the Kingdom has become a hub for major global events in the field of transportation and logistics, hosting last year the largest gathering of leaders and decision makers at the World Logistics Forum in its first edition.<\/p>\n

This year, the Supply Chain Conference is one of the most important events in the region's supply chain sector, and next year it will host the second edition of the UNCTAD Global Supply Chain Forum, in partnership with the United Nations Organization and the General Ports Authority.<\/p>\n

At the end of his speech, His Excellency called for unifying efforts in light of the stability that is still fragile according to international institutions.<\/p>\n

Minister Al-Jasser then toured the exhibition accompanying the conference, which was held on an area of 6500 meters and was attended by 141 companies.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the conference witnessed the signing of 93 agreements and memorandums of understanding over two days for a total of 19 billion and 53 million riyals, as these agreements contribute to the establishment of a number of logistics projects in the Kingdom.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
