An Insider's View<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Abdullah bin Saleh<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In direct contact with a number of real estate practitioners, there are frequent observations about their perception of the real estate broker.<\/p>\n<p>These remarks are not often said in public, but they are clearly visible in side conversations, in the level of trust, and in the way of dealing, and they are worth looking at, not in defense of the profession, but out of concern for it.<\/p>\n<p>The issue is that the prevailing mental image of the real estate broker is still often a negative one, in which brokerage is reduced to the pursuit of commission, and the broker is seen as an opportunistic or over-promising person, this image did not arise in a vacuum, but was the result of wrong practices that accumulated over years, and violated a fundamental principle on which brokerage is based: trust.<\/p>\n<p>Studies show that low trust in professional intermediaries leads parties to bypass them, which reduces the efficiency of transactions, increases the level of risk, and turns reputation into an exclusionary factor that precedes any real professional evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>Reducing brokers to the role of \u201ccommission salesman\u201d empties the profession of its advisory value, which is what international professional organizations warn against, as they link the reputation of brokers to their ethical behavior rather than the number of deals they make.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the regulatory and legislative developments in the real estate sector, regulations alone are not enough to fix the mental image, as legislation does not automatically create confidence unless it is supported by a conscious and disciplined practice. This is where accountability becomes necessary: To what extent have some brokers themselves contributed to perpetuating this image instead of correcting it? Every ambiguity, every exaggeration, and every presentation of commission over interest reproduces the same impression that the sector suffers from.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, the stereotype of the real estate broker is not a public relations issue, but a professional issue that affects the efficiency and sustainability of the market.
