The ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative Conference<\/a><\/strong>One of the most prominent global economic platforms, with the participation of heads of state, ministers, leaders of sovereign wealth funds, senior executives and entrepreneurs, at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Center, under the theme \u201cKey to Prosperity.\u201d.<\/p>\n

This edition comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is experiencing remarkable economic growth, with foreign direct investment increasing by 24% in 2024 to reach $31.7 billion, while the Public Investment Fund stands as one of the world's strongest sovereign wealth funds with total assets exceeding $900 billion, making the Kingdom a key pivot in shaping the new global economy, according to Mr. Yasser bin Othman Al-Rumayyan, Governor of the Public Investment Fund, Chairman of Saudi Aramco and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Future Investment Initiative Foundation (FFI).<\/p>\n

In his opening remarks Future Investment Initiative Conference<\/a><\/strong>Al-Rumayyan delivered a welcoming speech in which he emphasized that the conference has become the most important global forum for decision makers and investors, noting that since its launch less than a decade ago, the platform has witnessed deals worth more than $250 billion.<\/p>\n

Al-Rumayyan said: \u201cWe have come a long way, but this year we must take our impact to even greater heights. \u201dThe power of capital represented by those present today gives us a greater responsibility and opportunity to shape the future of the global economy.\"<\/p>\n

He added that the world is going through rapid economic and technological transformations, in which the old models can no longer keep up with the changes, stressing the need for governments and the private sector to cooperate as true partners to create a new model of shared growth and global prosperity.<\/p>\n

Al-Rumayyan pointed out that global GDP exceeded $111 trillion and is expected to grow by 2.8% this year, according to the Forum's annual priorities report, explaining that 66% people feel positive about their lives, but only 37% are optimistic about the future of the world, while 69% fear losing their jobs due to foreign competition, which highlights the gap between individual hope and collective pessimism.<\/p>\n

He noted that technology has the potential to reduce this gap if made available to all, but warned that three out of four people fear that AI will widen the educational gap between societies, stressing that the world must come together to address the inequalities that have hindered human progress, especially with some 808 million people (10% of the world's population) still living in extreme poverty by 2025.<\/p>\n

Al-Rumayyan emphasized that challenges create new opportunities to harness global capital to achieve security and stability, create jobs and stimulate growth, calling on governments to adopt flexible policies and smart regulation that balances openness and control to achieve sustainable development.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that the Kingdom's Vision 2030, led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has set a new global standard in economic transformation, saying: \u201cNine years have passed since the launch of the vision, and the results are evident everywhere; new cities, advanced industries, integrated systems, and innovative supply chains. We introduced the Kingdom to the world, and now the world is coming to the Kingdom. To the Future Investment Initiative, to Expo 2030, and to the 2034 World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded his speech by emphasizing that wealth in the Kingdom is not measured by numbers, but by human prosperity, noting that this week Riyadh is transforming into a platform for global cooperation where cross-border partnerships that make a real impact will be concluded, noting that the events of the ninth edition will conclude with a declaration that unites world leaders in a common pursuit of progress and prosperity for all.<\/p>\n
