Jazan Municipality announced the issuance of the first building license in the region according to the requirements of Saudi Urban Identity, an important step in efforts to regulate urban development and promote the local architectural character, reflecting the cultural and geographical diversity that characterizes the region.

The Municipality explained that the new license came after applying the approved criteria for urban identity, which aims to preserve the architectural specificity of the place, while achieving a balance between heritage elements and modern building requirements. These requirements seek to improve the quality of life within residential neighborhoods and improve the visual scene by directing architectural designs in accordance with the local environment and enhancing urban harmony.

The urban identity in Jazan is based on four main architectural styles that reflect the region's natural and cultural diversity, including the architecture of the Farsan Islands, the architecture of the Sarawat Mountains, the architecture of the Tihama Foothills, and the architecture of the Tihama Coast. Each style is characterized by special design and environmental characteristics, which appear in the details of architectural facades, the choice of building materials, and aesthetic elements inspired by the surrounding environment. The Municipality confirmed that the application of the urban identity comes within the programs of developing cities and improving the urban landscape, in support of the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to create more sustainable cities and quality of life, and to strengthen the connection of residents with their local identity by highlighting the distinctive architectural features of each region.
