His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Asir Region and Chairman of its Development Authority, presided yesterday at the Al-Khalidiya Guest Palace over the “Night of Charity” event, which brought together the generosity of the Asir Region as part of the campaign “Generosity Is in Us and Around Us,” implemented by the Private Developmental Housing Foundation “Sakan” through the Sakan Goodness platform, in the presence of a number of officials, supporters, businesspeople, and individuals interested in charitable and social work in the region.
The event featured a review of several initiatives and development tracks that contribute to supporting charitable work and strengthening social solidarity. Three informational videos were shown, highlighting donation channels such as Joud Al-Iskan, the National Committee for the Care of Prisoners, Ex-Convicts, and Their Families (Tarahum), and the Abha Sports Club, along with their achievements over the past years. The films also highlighted the tangible developmental impact these initiatives have had on the ground and the Asir region’s efforts to achieve a meaningful social impact.
The total donations announced during “Charity Night” 21.3 million riyals in support of the “Joud Housing” program, which will contribute to the construction of 142 housing units for eligible families in the Asir region—an effort that embodies the spirit of generosity and giving that characterizes the people of the region, and reinforces efforts to empower the most needy families and provide them with adequate housing.
The initiative also achieved a number of community and sports-related goals, as the target amount for the National Committee for the Care of Prisoners, Ex-Convicts, and Their Families (Tarahum) was reached through the White Fund with 3,598,000 riyals, in addition to meeting the fundraising goal for the Abha Sports Club to support its quest to advance to the professional league.
On the sidelines of the event, a number of exhibitions and informational booths were set up for the National Committee for the Care of Prisoners, Ex-Convicts, and Their Families in the Asir region (Tarahum) and the Abha Sports Club, during which a number of community and sports programs and initiatives were showcased.
The Tarahum Committee presented an overview of its programs aimed at supporting the families of prisoners and ex-prisoners, as well as the social and developmental services it provides to support family stability and empower beneficiaries. It also highlighted its efforts in implementing rehabilitation and training programs and charitable initiatives that promote the beneficiaries’ integration into society.
The Abha Sports Club also showcased at its booth its most notable athletic achievements and community programs, as well as its initiatives aimed at developing athletic talent and supporting youth activities, in addition to highlighting the club’s role in serving the community and promoting sports in the Asir region.
