Dr. Hussein bin Yahya Al-Fadli, Secretary General of the Saudi Council of Engineers, emphasized the importance of supporting efforts aimed at developing the engineering profession and its practitioners, and of utilizing engineering graduates in the Kingdom’s development projects, in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of the wise leadership of this generous nation. He made these remarks in his speech delivered at the opening ceremony of the Fifth Scientific Research Exhibition and Engineering Career Day at Majmaah University yesterday, Monday.
In his opening remarks at the exhibition, Al-Fadli noted that the Society has observed the progress made in engineering colleges at Saudi universities, including the College of Engineering at Majmaah University, following its contribution to graduating Saudi engineering professionals capable of meeting a portion of the labor market’s needs to high standards, as the college strives to provide outstanding educational services in the fields of mechanical and industrial engineering, civil and environmental engineering, and electrical engineering. He also praised the university’s remarkable progress in scientific and research fields, noting that the college has become a model of excellence for engineering colleges across the Kingdom.
The Secretary-General explained that the Fifth Scientific Research Exhibition and Engineering Career Day, organized by Majmaah University, are a project that represents a successful, hands-on experience by all measures, a hallmark of the College of Engineering each year. The aim is to present scientific research and the latest engineering innovations to its students, and to encourage competition among them in local, regional, and international contests for graduation projects and innovations. This has resulted in the winning of international awards and medals that, God willing, will enable them to secure outstanding job opportunities.
It is worth noting that the Authority participated in the exhibition, where its participation included showcasing the Authority’s achievements and programs, as well as introducing the Authority and presenting its vision and mission through a visual presentation, in addition to distributing the Authority’s various publications, at the exhibition where students present their specialized scientific research—each in their respective fields—after designing and carrying out their projects under the supervision of a group of faculty members and experts at the university.
