The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that it has made it possible to register “online commerce” as part of the list of activities that can be selected when issuing a commercial registration, in order to encourage the practice of e-commerce activities in the Kingdom. This move reflects the Ministry’s recognition of the importance of this globally growing sector and its commitment to keeping pace with developments and changes.

This step underscores the Ministry’s commitment to entrepreneurs and those interested in e-commerce activities by streamlining the procedures for issuing commercial registrations electronically, as well as by periodically reviewing the available commercial activities, noting that this sector has witnessed remarkable growth in the Kingdom in recent years due to increasing demand for such activities.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry previously launched a campaign to introduce the National Classification of Economic Activities “ISIC4” in July 2015, The classification contains more than 2,800 economic activities and includes a number of activities related to e-commerce. In its initial stages, the classification was applied to the commercial records of individual enterprises, followed by its application to corporate records in the second phase.
