The volume of trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and the United States has increased from $26 billion to more than $74 billion over the past ten years.

The Executive Director and Secretary General of the Saudi American Business Council, Dr. Bashir bin Mohammed Al-Ghareedh, said that today the Kingdom is America's 12th largest trading partner, while the United States is Saudi Arabia's second largest trading partner, noting that the United States also holds the largest equity share of foreign direct investment (FDI) from Saudi Arabia. The main investment operations include the establishment of Sadara Chemical Company, a joint venture between Dow Chemical Company and Saudi Aramco, estimated to cost more than 20 billion dollars, which is the largest petrochemical project in the world at one time.. The Saudi American Business Council is pursuing a comprehensive plan that outlines priority industrial and commercial activities and sectors to build national capacity and support the overall development undertaken by the Government of Saudi Arabia. These sectors include refining and marketing, petrochemicals and plastics, healthcare, and construction, as well as expanding U.S.-Saudi bilateral trade relations through new programs, mechanisms, and added services aimed at connecting U.S. and Saudi companies, mitigating challenges facing businesses in both countries, and promoting new investments.
