The Housing and Urban Development Committee of the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry raised a number of topics which participants discussed, most notably support services for urban developers, including issues related to property valuation, real estate brokerage, and facilities management, and proposed coordinating a meeting with the relevant authorities to review the latest developments in draft regulations, including those pertaining to the Real Estate Authority slated for establishment.

This came during the committee’s third meeting, where it approved its action plan for the current year, 2016, and reviewed the developments resulting from the working groups" efforts regarding the action plan assigned to them.

For his part, Committee Chairman Radan bin Sa’af al-Duweish confirmed that the committee had reached an agreement with an international research center specializing in preparing periodic real estate reports on the region, The meeting also discussed the launch of a number of initiatives, including a monthly meeting to discuss housing sector issues, a forum and exhibition bringing together Iraqi developers, and an expanded meeting with universities and consulting firms to support the housing sector.
