His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Eastern Province, inaugurated (6) vital road projects in the Eastern Province, at a total cost of (406) million riyals, in the presence of HE Minister of Transport and Logistics Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and a number of Their Excellencies and leaders of the transport and logistics system.
Quality projects in the transportation sector
His Highness stressed that the region is witnessing quality projects in <a href="https://amlak.His Highness stressed that the quality projects in the transportation and logistics sector reflect the support and attention given to this sector by the wise leadership, pointing out that the development of infrastructure and raising the efficiency of road networks, ports, airports and railways contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the Eastern Province, supporting its economic and logistical position, and keeping pace with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in building an integrated and sustainable transportation system that contributes to improving the quality of life and supporting growth and development.<The inaugurated projects included the implementation of the metal barrier for the road leading to the Rub Al Khali crossing with the Sultanate of Oman, the implementation of more than 5 intersections on the road linking the (Dammam/Jubail) road, the (Riyadh/Dammam) road, the (Dhahran/Aqeer/Salwa) road with the intersection of Abqaiq road, as well as the construction of the Camel Crossing Bridge (Abqaiq/Al-Ahsa) road, repairing the (Al-Kharj/Haradh) road in various locations, as well as implementing the intersection of Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Road with the extension of (Riyadh/Dammam) road, contributing to enhancing connectivity between the governorates of the region and the GCC countries, and improving the experience of road users.
Signing new agreements
HH the Emir of Eastern Province witnessed the signing of a package of agreements for the transportation system in the region, with a total value of more than (3) billion riyals, where the agreements included the signing of contracts for Dammam airports worth more than (1.2) billion riyals, including the King Fahd International Airport power station project, the medium voltage distribution network, the construction of a new power station and the modernization of the medium voltage distribution network to increase the reliability of the electrical network at King Fahd International Airport, and rehabilitation of the northern road of King Fahd International Airport which includes developing the road from airport to Safwa Bridge and preparing it according to modern standards to enhance safety of traffic passing between the two airports.
The agreements, which were sponsored by His Highness the Emir of the Eastern Province, witnessed the signing of the privatization contract for the container terminal at Jubail Commercial Port with a total investment of more than two billion riyals to raise the efficiency of the port and enhance its competitiveness by raising the capacity from (1.5) million standard containers to (2.4) million containers per year.The signing of an agreement to establish a logistics zone at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam will contribute to attracting international and regional logistics companies, enhancing container handling and supporting supply chains, signing a contract to establish an integrated service center for trucks at King Abdulaziz Port with an investment of (180) million riyals, in addition to signing a contract between Saudi Railways (SAR), OHL Arabia Ltd. and Hassan Allam Construction Company to construct a 21 km railway line connecting the Second Industrial City in Dammam with the railway network, thus enhancing the integration of the industrial sector with the railway transportation network in the Kingdom of Saudi ArabiaHis Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics explained that these agreements and projects are an extension of the support of the wise leadership for the transport and logistics sector, especially as they will contribute to enhancing mobility in the region, serving its visitors, and supporting the economic and logistics movement, stressing that the Transport and Logistics System will continue its efforts to upgrade the transportation and mobility network, which is one of the most important national capabilities contributing to achieving the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy according to the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics center.
