Saudi Arabia ranked third globally in the "Legislative Support for Starting a Business" indicator in the 2026 Global Competitiveness Yearbook, thanks to streamlined procedures and faster business startup by reducing requirements and automating processes, with the Companies Law in providing a flexible and stimulating environment that supports company formation as well as their growth and development.

The Kingdom advanced to fourth place in the “Economic Opportunity” index by enabling individuals and businesses to engage in economic activity and access facilities and resources fairly and effectively.
In the “Large Companies—Efficient According to International Standards” index, the Kingdom advanced to seventh place globally, as a result of large companies’ ability to operate with high efficiency and productivity and compete at the level of major global companies, as commercial legislation has contributed to the development of corporate operations and their adoption of global best practices and advanced, innovative technologies.

The Ministry of Commerce explained that efforts to develop the legislative and procedural framework to empower the business sector, in partnership with the government and private sectors, have contributed to continued progress across several business indicators in the report.
The Kingdom ranked 13th globally in the World Competitiveness Yearbook and third among G20 countries, making progress across all the report’s main pillars, which measure economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure.
