The Jazan Regional Secretariat issued, this past June, (232) building permits, in accordance with the requirements of the Saudi Urban Identity, as part of its strategic efforts to promote the implementation of the Urban Identity and to establish an architectural style inspired by the region’s environmental and cultural characteristics.

This step reflects the Secretariat’s commitment to consolidating the urban identity, highlight local distinctiveness in architectural designs and facades, and strike a balance between the authenticity of the urban heritage and modern construction requirements, leading to higher-quality and more sustainable urban environments.
The Municipality’s official spokesperson, Fahd bin Saad Al-Ahmari, explained that the issuance of 232 building permits, in accordance with the requirements of the Saudi Urban Identity, along with the processing of all permit applications received by the Secretariat across the region, reflects progress in implementing the urban identity and underscores the Secretariat’s ongoing efforts to regulate the urban landscape, enhance quality of life, and consolidate architectural identity.

He explained that the urban identity in the Jazan region is based on four main architectural styles that represent the region’s spatial and cultural diversity, including: the Tihama Coast, the Tihama Foothills, the Sarawat Mountains, and the Farasan Islands. Each style is characterized by design elements, architectural details, and building materials inspired by the local environment, thereby strengthening a sense of belonging to the place and highlighting the uniqueness of the region’s urban landscape.
