Riyadh—Amlak
Official sources at the Ministry of Housing revealed that the eligibility criteria for grants, loans, and land will be announced soon. They also revealed that the ministry has received approximately 150 million square meters of land designated for housing from the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, 40 percent of which is undeveloped and unparceled. The same sources indicated that they expect to receive more than 260 million square meters from the Ministry in the near future, while denying any intention on the part of the Ministry of Housing to purchase any ready-made development plans at this time in any region of the Kingdom. The sources noted that the Ministry is currently constructing more than 25,000 housing units spread across several regions of the Kingdom; some of these will be completed in less than a year, while others will take up to three years.
It should be noted that the housing sector has generally undergone a clear quantitative and qualitative transformation, and has witnessed, particularly in Riyadh, a major transformation despite experiencing significant population growth rates exceeding eight percent—rates that surpassed most global averages between 1407 AH and 1417 AH— and continued to expand and grow until its urban area reached the development protection boundaries, currently covering more than 5,300 square kilometers, while its population reached 4.9 million.
