The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has confirmed that the service for renewing commercial licenses online via the «Baladi» platform, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop digital municipal services, improve the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, and enhance the business environment, in line with the digital transformation goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Ministry’s official spokesperson, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Rasasma, explained that the commercial license renewal service enables business owners to complete all renewal procedures electronically by logging into the «Baladi» via the Unified National Portal (Absher), selecting the commercial license renewal service, completing the application, and paying the fees—all without having to visit municipal offices.
He noted that one of the most important requirements for license renewal is proof of the right to use the site, whether through a valid lease agreement registered on the «Ejar», a title deed, or an investment contract, in addition to meeting the requirements of the «Salamah» platform operated by the Civil Defense, depending on the nature of the activity. He noted that licenses can be renewed up to 90 days before their expiration date, and that expired licenses can be renewed in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Al-Rasasma noted that the service cannot be provided if the registration has expired until it is renewed. He added that the «Baladi» platform also allows for the electronic cancellation of commercial licenses in the event that the business ceases operations or the owner no longer wishes to continue operating it, through a simple online process that includes selecting the license to be canceled, completing the application details, and paying any outstanding fees, if applicable.
He emphasized that the «Baladi» is one of the most prominent digital tools for the municipal sector, as it provides a comprehensive suite of municipal services online, thereby helping to streamline procedures, increase service efficiency, improve the user experience, enhance transparency, and support digital transformation in the municipal sector.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing called on business owners to take advantage of the e-services provided by the «Baladi», to ensure they renew their commercial licenses before they expire, and to review the regulatory requirements and conditions to ensure the continuity of commercial activities and to access municipal services with ease and convenience.
