Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, Muaz bin Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, Deputy Governor of Al-Ahsa and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Basamat Association for the Care and Development of Orphans, attended the closing ceremony of the fifth edition of the “Basamat: Cities of the Future” program and the accompanying project exhibition held at King Faisal University yesterday evening. The event showcased 47 innovative projects presented by more than 400 talented orphaned participants from various regions of the Kingdom, embodying visionary and innovative ideas that look toward the future of smart cities and contribute to building more sustainable cities with a higher quality of life, in the presence of King Faisal University President Dr. Adel bin Muhammad Abu Zanada, Director General of Education in Al-Ahsa Tawashi bin Yusuf Al-Kanani, and members of the association, along with a number of officials from the Ministry of Education, directors of government departments in Al-Ahsa, and representatives from nonprofit organizations.
The Deputy Governor and the guests were briefed on the program’s most notable scientific and educational milestones, the positive impact it has had on developing participants“ skills and shaping their character, as well as its effects on their lives, behavior, and future aspirations.
The Deputy Governor of Al-Ahsa emphasized that the achievements of the ”Footprints of Future Cities" program in its fifth edition reflect the commitment and interest of His Highness the Governor of Al-Ahsa, as well as his continuous follow-up on quality programs and initiatives focused on human development and talent empowerment, and he praised the successful collaboration achieved among government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector.
Participants showcased the outcomes of their scientific journey through 47 innovative projects developed across 16 scientific and creative tracks, divided among 10 tracks for the Kingdom’s program and 6 tracks for the Al-Ahsa Program. These projects offered forward-looking solutions in the fields of technology, engineering, architecture, the environment, health, education, and space, thereby reinforcing the concepts of smart cities, and improving quality of life by leveraging modern technologies and transforming ideas into scalable models and applications.
The Fifth Edition of the «Footprints of Future Cities» Program Concludes in Al-Ahsa Governorate
