The Municipality of Al-Khobar Governorate is nearing completion of the fifth and final phase of the Al-Khobar South Corniche Development Project, which is one of the most prominent waterfront development projects in the Eastern Province. This is part of the Eastern Province Secretariat’s efforts to enhance quality of life, enhance the urban landscape, and support tourism and recreational facilities in line with the objectives of urban development.
Faisal Al-Zahrani, the official spokesperson for the Eastern Province Municipality, said, that the project is part of a series of development initiatives being implemented by the Secretariat to modernize waterfronts, increase open spaces, and create sustainable urban environments that meet the needs of residents and visitors while contributing to the efficiency of public facilities and services.

Phase Five of the Development
Al-Zahrani explained that Phase Five extends over a length of 650 meters and covers a total area of 18,000 square meters, and includes the creation of more than 10,000 square meters of green spaces, the construction of dedicated pedestrian paths, and the installation of a modern aesthetic lighting system, in addition to providing parking spaces and equipping the site with seating areas and chairs for visitors, thereby enhancing the quality of facilities and increasing the comfort of Corniche visitors.
He added that the work includes removing the existing stone retaining wall and replacing it with a modern aluminum fence, with the aim of improving the visual landscape, enhancing safety standards, and creating a more attractive and seamless environment for visitors to the Corniche, reflecting the modern urban identity of the waterfront.

He noted that the Southern Al-Khobar Corniche is one of the city’s most important tourist and recreational destinations, given the spaces it provides for sports, recreational, and social activities, as well as its role in supporting tourism and economic activity and maximizing the benefits of the waterfront.
Al-Zahrani emphasized that the Eastern Province Municipality continues to implement its development projects in accordance with the highest standards of quality and sustainability, thereby contributing to infrastructure development, improving municipal services, enhancing the urban landscape, and strengthening the position of the Eastern Province’s cities as leading urban and tourist destinations across the Kingdom.
