King Abdullah Economic City announced the signing of a 263.5 million riyal contract to develop the «Suhail,» which aims to create an integrated destination blending equestrian heritage, tourist experiences, and a modern lifestyle, as part of an initiative to boost investment and diversify tourism and entertainment options in the city.
Under the deal, investments in the project’s development are expected to exceed $2 billion, opening the door to new investment opportunities for investors both within and outside the Kingdom and helping to attract more capital to the tourism and real estate sectors.
Abdulaziz Al-Nuwaiser, CEO of Emaar Economic City, the master developer of King Abdullah Economic City, said the agreement sets the previously announced vision on a clear path to move forward with the project’s implementation.
He explained that the city continues to attract high-quality projects and international investments that enhance the experiences and services offered there, particularly projects that celebrate Saudi culture and the Kingdom’s heritage, noting that the «Suhail» project embodies this approach by offering new experiences to residents and visitors. He added that the project will contribute to stimulating investment and tourism and creating new job opportunities, thereby adding a new dimension to King Abdullah Economic City’s journey as an integrated and vibrant destination.
Two Million Square Meters for the «Suhail» Project
The «Suhail» project spans an area of approximately two million square meters, and features a comprehensive system of equestrian facilities, including stables and facilities for horse breeding and training, as well as an academy specializing in horseback riding and veterinary care services. The project also includes a polo resort, equestrian arenas, and horseback riding trails, offering a diverse range of equestrian experiences and enhancing the sport’s presence within the new destination.
The project is not limited to equestrian facilities; it also includes residential units, retail spaces, restaurants, and cafes, as well as entertainment, wellness, and recreational facilities, making it a destination that combines residential living, hospitality, entertainment, and sports activities.
A Design Inspired by Hijazi Architecture
«Sahil» draws its design and architectural features from coastal Hijazi architecture, and it will be developed in accordance with the requirements of the Saudi Building Code. Approximately 40% of the project’s total area is set to be allocated to parks, walking paths, event venues, and waterfront spaces, thereby enhancing the project’s open character and connecting its facilities to the surrounding environment.
The project is part of King Abdullah Economic City’s efforts to develop new destinations that combine tourism, recreation, and investment activities, with a focus on offering experiences rooted in local culture and heritage.
