Essam Al-Mubarak, Secretary-General of the Board of Certified Appraisers (Taqim), revealed that the board plans to enroll 13 women in a specialized course in preparation for them obtaining a real estate appraiser license.
In a separate context, Al-Mubarak explained that the mechanisms for imposing penalties on violators of the appraisal system will be enforced through the Committee for Reviewing Appraisers" Violations, after which cases will be referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution and then to court. Penalties range from a fine to one year in prison. He noted that the Authority’s role is solely regulatory and rehabilitative.
The importance of the valuation profession lies in the fact that most sectors—such as banks, insurance companies, real estate firms, and government agencies involved in expropriation—rely on it to assist them in making critical economic decisions, such as decisions regarding purchases, sales, acquisitions, mergers, partnership dissolutions, inheritance, dispute resolution, compensation, and determining the feasibility of investments, among others.
