The Ministry of Justice Establishes a Unit to Update Legal Documents to Expedite the Approval of Housing Plans

Posted in

As part of the ongoing coordination between the Ministries of Justice and Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice for Notarization Affairs, Sheikh Osama Al-Zaid, issued a decision to establish a “Deed Update for Planning Purposes” unit in all first-level notary offices, which will be responsible for updating deeds for residential planning purposes, verifying the validity of the deeds, and electronically submitting the report to the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs to expedite the approval of residential plans by quickly updating the deeds and ensuring their validity.

The Ministry explained that the operating mechanism of the “Deed Update Unit” requires the beneficiary to submit an electronic update of the raw land deed for planning purposes to the relevant notary office, along with the original deed and the required documents. In turn, the notary office updates the deed and verifies its validity and supporting documents in accordance with regulatory requirements, as well as the chain of title and the integrity of the deed’s basis, and then sends the report electronically to the Central Unit for Plan Approval at the Secretariat to complete the update process.

The Ministry’s decision to establish this unit is part of the concrete efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Justice to streamline and simplify procedures, with the aim of improving performance and accelerating completion times.
