Ministry of Transportation gives passenger transportation facilities three months to correct their status

The Ministry of Transport has given all establishments that provide passenger transportation services through vehicle guidance applications three months to correct their situation according to the new conditions, as the Ministry and the Public Transport Authority are working on a comprehensive review of all taxi services currently provided and developing a new concept for providing this service in line with the Kingdom's status and Vision 2030.

The new regulation seeks to restructure the activity and limit the random wandering of taxis, to have a security and social impact in the first place, and to be more effective without abuse or harassment, whether to road users or beneficiaries of the services, and this regulation is in line with the requirements and desires of the Saudi society to benefit from technology to obtain a better service, and this regulation is the first effort of the transportation sector in the Ministry and the Public Transport Authority, where the public transport file is one of the most important priorities and issues directed by the Minister of Transport to address them.

The Ministry and the Public Transport Authority have been working to review all taxi services and develop a new vision for the provision of this service in line with the Kingdom's status and the vision of 2030.

The Ministry of Transportation had announced through its website and its official social media accounts the facilities qualified by the ministry to provide this service. It allowed «citizens» to work with their own vehicles in the activity through "smart phone" applications operated by one of the facilities qualified by the ministry to provide the routing service.

This came in the new conditions and procedures that regulate the work of vehicle guidance facilities issued by the Ministry recently, as these applications were widely popular and accepted by citizens and residents, especially in light of the low level of taxi services currently provided, while these applications enable them to obtain the service at the place and time specified by the passenger and make him a key element in the development and control process by enabling him to evaluate the level of service provided, and contribute to the process of traffic control and fleet management.

This came in the new conditions and procedures that regulate the work of vehicle guidance facilities that were recently issued by the Ministry, as these applications were widely popular, satisfied and accepted by citizens and residents, especially in light of the low level of taxi services currently provided.
