“Trade and Investment” launches campaign to protect trademarks and preserve property rights

The Ministry of Trade and Investment began implementing its control campaign on markets and shops to protect the logos of sports clubs registered with it, which comes in application of the trademark protection system and the anti-commercial fraud system and preserving intellectual property rights and realizing the partnership that was announced, during the past period, after a number of meetings and workshops that included senior officials of the competent and relevant authorities, and the field teams of the Ministry of Trade and Investment intensified their inspection and control campaigns in various regions of the Kingdom, in order to preserve one of the most important gains of the clubs, while the media campaign was launched to educate the publicThe Ministry of Trade and Investment stressed that there will be no relentlessness in imposing regular penalties against anyone found to be involved in storing, distributing and selling counterfeit products for sports clubs" trademarks, and warned shops and outlets not to possess or display any counterfeit products to avoid the prescribed penalties.The ministry seized (36) thousand counterfeit pieces, through 1299 field visits to various cities of the Kingdom. The Ministry of Trade and Investment, earlier, emphasized that there will be no relentlessness in imposing regular penalties against anyone proven to be involved in storing, distributing and selling counterfeit products of sports clubs" trademarks.

This campaign comes to protect the trademarks and logos of Saudi sports clubs and preserve and protect their rights in accordance with the trademark law, because their logos represent a fundamental importance as an investment resource for the clubs.
