Riyadh—SPA
His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, met in his office with His Excellency the Minister of Housing, Dr. Shuwaish bin Saud Al-Duwaihi, to discuss procedures for implementing the royal decree ordering the transfer of all government-owned land designated for housing, including thefor grants, to the Ministry of Housing so that it may undertake their planning and the implementation of infrastructure projects, and subsequently distribute them to citizens according to the eligibility mechanism.
At the outset of his meeting with the Minister of Housing, His Highness the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs expressed his welcome of the provisions of the Royal Decree regarding the transfer of all government-owned land and land grant plans to the Ministry of Housing, emphasizing that this had been a long-standing demand of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, which, over the past decades, had borne the responsibility for developing government-owned land and grant plans and distributing them prior to the establishment of the Ministry of Housing, which now holds the primary authority for providing residential land and constructingand implementing infrastructure projects for land allocation plans.
His Highness emphasized that the Royal Decree puts matters in their proper context and enables the Ministry of Housing to exercise its authority in implementing the policies of the State—may God protect it—to provide housing for the citizens of the nation without conflicting with the responsibilities and authorities of other agencies, noting that the Ministry is in the process of issuing a circular to all municipal secretariats and municipalities to enforce the provisions of the Royal Decree and to submit the plans prepared for housing, as well as the plans currently being serviced, to the Ministry of Housing within the next few days.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Al-Duwaihi expressed his deep gratitude for the tremendous efforts made by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs over the past years in providing land to government agencies and citizens through the housing grant program, noting that there is close coordination and cooperation between the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs in implementing the provisions of the Royal Decree in the coming period.
