The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may God protect him - issued his order approving the following: 1 / That the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs immediately stop the distribution of municipal grants that are made by the secretariats and municipalities according to their instructions. 2 / All government lands intended for housing, including the plans approved for the aforementioned municipal grants, where the delivery of all services and other infrastructures has not been completed, will be handed over to the Ministry of Housing to plan and implement the infrastructure and then distribute them to citizens according to the entitlement mechanism. 3 / The Ministry of Finance shall allocate the amounts necessary to implement the infrastructure projects for the housing plots referred to in paragraph (2) above. 4 / The Ministry of Housing will give citizens developed residential lands and loans to build on them according to the entitlement mechanism. 5 / Giving the Ministry of Housing full authority to approve the plans for its housing projects in accordance with the general controls and requirements, and informing the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs thereof. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques - may Allah protect him - also directed the ministries and competent authorities to provide the Ministry of Housing with the necessary data to implement the project to determine the mechanism of eligibility and priority of housing requests referred to in the royal order.
His Excellency Dr. Shuwaish bin Saud Al-Duwaihi, Minister of Housing, explained that based on what the Ministry of Housing submitted with the aim of facilitating the implementation of the royal order to allocate 250 billion riyals to build 500 thousand housing units in all regions of the Kingdom and determine the best way to achieve this.

The Minister of Housing indicated that the Ministry has started implementing the decision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques since its issuance and is currently preparing the largest amount of land completed with services to be handed over to citizens as soon as possible, according to a precise and fair program to reach this support to those who deserve it. In an interview with Channel 1 on Kingdom TV, the Minister emphasized the importance of the cooperation of government agencies that have information that enables the distribution base of housing units to be built more accurately because the more accurate the information in this base, the more accurate the delivery of support to its beneficiaries will be. Regarding the fate of the housing units for which funds have been allocated, he said that for the existing projects currently being implemented by the ministry, work will continue until their completion, and said: We have two projects now handed over and within the order issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques that the Ministry of Housing will continue to build when the urgent need requires it to build, and this decision will bring balance to the housing market in the Kingdom.

The Minister emphasized the importance of the cooperation of government agencies with information that enables the construction of an accurate distribution base for housing units in the Kingdom.
