The prices of building and construction materials witnessed a decrease during the first half of 2016, led by cable prices by 15%, which was the most decreased out of 5 materials. According to a recent report issued by the General Authority for Statistics, iron prices decreased by 12% to 2256.3 riyals per ton in the first half of this year compared to 2555.7 riyals per ton during the same period last year, ready-mix concrete (cubic meter) fell to 199.18 riyals by 2%, cement (50 kg bag) to 13.63 riyals by 1%, cable (linear meter) to 27.59 riyals by 15%, and timber (cubic meter) to 2613 riyals by 1%.
