

With the participation of more than 350 specialized agricultural companies, the Saudi Agricultural Exhibition 2016 kicked off in its 35th edition at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, From 1-4 Muharram 1438, corresponding to 2-5 October 2016. Participants from 31 countries from around the world, and this edition of the exhibition highlighted organic agriculture and related products, as well as fish farming and farming based on new government directives that aim to achieve sustainable food security.

The second season of agricultural committees The Governor of the General Grain Corporation, Engineer Ahmed Al-Fares, sponsored the second expanded meeting of the agricultural committees of the Saudi Chambers, held on the sidelines of the exhibition, on behalf of the Minister. In his speech, he addressed the environment, water and agriculture sectors as one of the most important economic tributaries in the Kingdom, as there are promising opportunities in the sector in facing food security risks, productive and marketing efficiency in the agricultural sector and increasing efficiency in using water for agricultural purposes. Al-Fares also reviewed during the meeting the ministry's initiatives for the National Transformation Program to achieve (16) strategic objectives through which it invests the strengths and areas of opportunity in the environment, water and agriculture sectors in anticipation of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and its future prospects for transformation towards a stable economy and parallel development to make the agricultural sector more developed and diversified, by increasing the efficiency of the use of natural resources, especially water resources, based on the comparative advantages of different regions in the Kingdom to contribute to achieving sustainable food security in its comprehensive concept, and sustainable rural development to achieve social stability. For his part, Riyadh Chamber Chairman M. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi said that the meeting aims to identify all the issues and challenges facing investors in the agricultural sector, and to discuss the expected role of the agricultural sector in accordance with the National Transformation Program and the "Saudi Vision 2030" and the effective role that the agricultural sector can contribute in supporting the national economy and diversifying sources of income, which makes us look forward to the meeting to be a platform through which we seek to develop visions and ideas that help to promote the agricultural sector and enhance its productive capabilities, supporting and promoting the plans and programs of the Ministry within the National Transformation Program.

In the same direction, the Director General of the exhibition Mr. Khaled Daou confirmed that this year's edition was different from its predecessors in changing the strategy of exhibiting companies to be in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by showcasing the latest technologies and services that meet the needs of the agricultural sector and benefit participants and visitors.
