The Statistics Authority reveals that 2.2 million homes are owned by citizens and 1.2 million are rented

The General Authority for Statistics revealed that approximately 63 % of all Saudi homes are owner-occupied, equivalent to 2.2 million homes across various regions of Saudi Arabia, According to 2016 data, these homes are distributed among 21.3 million Saudi individuals, with the total number of homes in Saudi Arabia occupied by Saudi families amounting to approximately 3.4 million.

This information was provided through graphical statistics published by the Authority on the results of the housing census and the distribution of housing units, The Authority indicated that 1.2 million of the Saudi-occupied homes are rented, representing 34 % of the total housing stock, while 2 % live in employer-provided housing, totaling 64,000 units.

The statistics also showed that apartments occupied by citizens number approximately 1.4 million, representing 40 % of Saudi housing, followed by villas, numbering 1.03 million, accounting for 30 % of total housing, and then traditional homes, at 19 %, estimated at 650,000 homes.
