Prince Mohammed bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated the headquarters of the new “DHL” Express headquarters at King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, which was constructed by Youssef Maroun Contracting Company to serve as the new headquarters for the company, considered one of the world’s leading providers of express delivery services.
For his part, Youssef Maroun, General Manager of Youssef Maroun Contracting—the company that executed the project, which is the largest facility providing a prime hub for air transport operations from the city of Jeddah— stated that the new facility spans 15,000 square meters, representing an investment of 90 million Saudi riyals.
Regarding the capabilities of the new facility, Youssef Maroun explained that it can handle 4,000 shipments per hour, and is equipped with an automated conveyor belt capable of processing more than 100,000 shipments daily—including scanning, weighing, and recording the details of each package—as well as a 600-meter-long conveyor belt, equivalent to the height of the Royal Clock Tower in Mecca, and features more than 120 CCTV cameras throughout the facility to provide high-resolution footage and real-time information to airport security and Saudi Customs.
For his part, DHL Express Global CEO Ken Allen expressed his delight at the inauguration of this massive facility in Jeddah, stating: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has long been one of our most important markets in the Middle East and North Africa, and we have seen remarkable growth over the past two years. This new facility is the latest of our three state-of-the-art facilities in Jeddah, The facility offers cutting-edge air freight solutions and reinforces the company’s already strong presence across the MENA region. This underscores our commitment to and confidence in the growth of the Saudi economy as we continue to enhance our capabilities and solidify our leading position in the region’s markets while meeting the evolving needs of our customers.
It is worth noting that the facility can accommodate more than 40 vehicles and features on-site loading and unloading facilities for shipments to ensure the highest levels of protection and security, as well as facilities for air and land customs clearance. As such, it is DHL Express’s largest investment to date and is part of its ongoing expansion strategy across the Kingdom to support economic growth and expansion in the largest economy in the Arabian Gulf region, reaffirming its leadership in this field across the Middle East for over 40 years. DHL currently operates more than 200 service centers and locations across 19 countries in the region and employs more than 4,500 people in the Middle East.
