The total weight of thermal insulation products re-exported by Saudi Customs in the year 1437 AH was (1,015) thousand and fifteen metric tons, due to their non-compliance with the technical regulations of the approved Saudi Standard Specifications.
This was announced by the General Customs Authority, which, since the thermal insulation specifications came into effect, has taken measures to ensure their enforcement at all customs ports—land, sea, and air— and to prevent products that violate specifications and standards from entering the country. This has been achieved by establishing a special list that includes all goods subject to the Saudi Energy Efficiency Program—including thermal insulation materials—and by automatically restricting their clearance, requiring the submission of a certificate of conformity and the collection of samples foror by testing them in the laboratories of the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO); where materials that do not comply with specifications and standards were re-exported based on the laboratory results issued by SASO or private laboratories.
It is worth noting that Saudi Customs rejected the entry of 53.9 million units of various goods for non-compliance with specifications and standards during the period from 1/1/2016January 1, 2016, through September 30, 2016. This action is part of its responsibility to safeguard the national economy, in cooperation with relevant government agencies.
