Well-informed sources have indicated that a requirement for contractors to be members of the Saudi Contractors Authority will soon be implemented, in order to allow them to compete for government project bids. This step is intended to strengthen the Authority’s role in reorganizing the contracting sector in accordance with principles and guidelines that align with the sector’s economic aspirations and objectives.

For his part, Fahd Mohammed Al-Hammadi, president of the Arab Contractors Union and a member of the Saudi Contractors Authority, said: “If this decision is implemented, it will have a positive impact on national companies operating in the construction sector, as they will effectively become members of the Authority, which in turn will serve as a legal and professional reference framework for the forms and content of practical operations, and lay the foundation for a new phase that ensures the construction sector’s continued contribution to advancing the development process and effectively strengthening the national economy, particularly with regard to the vast employment opportunities and the promotion of the concept of integration between the sector’s requirements and its obligations. He noted that companies will also benefit from their membership in the Authority, as they will operate under its umbrella, and comply with legally binding regulations, legislation, and bylaws, which will protect them from violations—particularly those related to direct and indirect legal obligations—regarding financial and technical commitments to companies and individuals.
