Posted in

Two weeks ago, the Ministry of Finance began posting the names of the second batch of construction companies eligible for payments for their work on government development projects on the Ministry’s website. These names will continue to be posted through the end of this month, and the process is expected to be completed by the middle of the coming month of Rabi" al-Awwal.

This was revealed in a press statement by Fahad Al-Hammadi, Chairman of the National Contractors Committee, explaining that the majority of projects undertaken by construction companies are concentrated in the Ministries of Water, Housing, Health, and Education, as well as a number of other government sectors. He noted that small construction companies have currently halted work due to the non-payment of their dues.Al-Hammadi called on the relevant ministries to clarify their plans for the coming year and specify what funds will be allocated to contractors so that companies do not face the same problem as last year.

Al-Hammadi had previously explained that all large, medium, and small construction companies with outstanding payments had received a portion of their dues as part of the first installment disbursed recently, noting that among these companies are both ”Ibn Laden“ and ”Saudi Oger."

Al-Hammadi explained that the amounts recently disbursed to contractors pertain to projects completed or currently underway during the past year and the current year, noting that the disbursement of these payments was ordered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

He noted that the first installment disbursed by government agencies and ministries to contractors over the past few days amounted to 40 billion riyals, representing approximately 25% of their total dues, expecting the percentage to reach more than 80% during the remaining few weeks of the current fiscal year, and that a new payment of approximately 100 billion riyals will be disbursed soon.
