Cabinet: Maintaining the centralized unit of the Saudi Building Code

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud—may God protect him—chaired the Cabinet meeting held this Monday afternoon at Al-Aziziyah Palace in Al-Khobar Province.

His Excellency Dr. Adel bin Zaid Al-Turaifi, Minister of Culture and Information, stated in a press release to the Saudi Press Agency following the session that the Council of Ministers reviewed the items on its agenda and reached the following conclusions:

After reviewing the report submitted by His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Investment, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, the Council of Ministers decided to retain the Central Unit for the Saudi Building Code within the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and to form a working group under the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code, whose tasks will include following up on the Committee’s decisions and coordinating with the Central Unit for the Saudi Building Code at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs.

After reviewing the report submitted by His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Investment, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Authority for Accredited Assessors, and after reviewing Shura Council Resolution No. (120/52) dated 2/1/1438 AH, the Council of Ministers has decided the following:

1- The Board of Directors of the Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers—established pursuant to Item (II) of Royal Decree No. (M/43) dated 9/7/1433 AH – with its current members for a term of (three) years, effective as of March 24, 1437 AH.

– 2. A representative from the Ministry of Commerce and Investment shall be added to the membership of this Board, provided that his or her membership shall expire at the end of the three-year term referred to above.

A royal decree to that effect has been prepared.

The Council of Ministers reviewed a number of general items on its agenda, including the annual report of the General Authority for Statistics for the previous fiscal year. The Council took note of its contents and issued the necessary directives regarding it.
