As part of the Ministry of Housing's efforts to localize the latest technologies in the field of construction, the Minister of Housing, Majid Al-Hogail, and the Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, signed today a technical cooperation memorandum on the sidelines of the Fourth Arab Housing Conference to enable and facilitate the transfer and localization of modern technologies for residential construction and materials and qualify the required technical competencies to ensure raising capabilities in areas of common interest.
The Minister of Housing explained that the memorandum comes in order to follow up on the decisions and recommendations of the Council of Economic Affairs and Development to activate areas of cooperation and partnership between government agencies, and to develop cooperation between the Ministry of Housing and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization in the field of standardization and material specifications, and to stimulate the housing development projects of the Ministry of Housing He pointed out that the memorandum of joint technical cooperation in the field of scientific research, the transfer and localization of science related to building systems and technologies, and the adoption of joint research projects between the Ministry and SASO contribute to stimulating housing development projects and promoting sustainable development.
<p class="p1While the Governor of the Saudi Standards Organization, Dr. Saad Al-Qasabi, stressed the importance of concerted efforts through these joint programs to achieve the Kingdom's vision and improve the level of various services provided to the people of the country, stressing the importance of standards in the field of building technologies and materials as the most important tools in raising quality rates in residential products in general.
The memorandum of cooperation includes working on localizing standardization, quality systems and calibration activities in the field of related activities between the Ministry and the Authority, in addition to exchanging knowledge, studies and scientific research of mutual relevance, and includes joint technical cooperation in the field of preparing, reviewing and updating standards and technical regulations, to establish confidence in Saudi standards and technical regulations issued by the Authority for all related services.
The memorandum of cooperation includes working on the localization of standardization, quality systems and calibration in the field of related activities between the Ministry and the Authority. <The memorandum of cooperation also emphasized the importance of studying the specifications or technical regulations proposed by the Ministry of Housing for related products and services, and the Ministry assumes the chairmanship of the technical committees for the preparation of Saudi standards related to its tasks. The memorandum of cooperation includes activating joint work mechanisms between the two parties to identify and examine the materials and components of the targeted modern building systems and various building materials, and study their efficiency, quality and suitability for the implementation of housing projects in the Kingdom, in addition to benefiting from the specialists and experts working at both parties in implementing initiatives and projects of common interest.
