The Dubai Land Department has officially completed all procedures for joining and supporting the Global Initiative for the Harmonization of Surveying Standards, thereby becoming the first government agency in the world to support this initiative through its participation in drafting unified surveying standards alongside more than 20 international organizations specializing in this field.
It was agreed during the meeting that the Dubai Land Department would form a committee representing the «Middle East and North Africa region» whose mandate will include developing and drafting global surveying standards to be published in June 2014. The Department will chair the proposed committee, which will work alongside international experts in this field.
Sultan Butti bin Majran, Director General of the Dubai Land Department, said: “Dubai’s participation in this important global initiative and the selection of the Dubai Land Department to form and chair a committee representing a broad geographic region encompassing the Middle East and North Africa reflects the high regard in which Dubai and the United Arab Emirates as a whole are held at both the regionaland international levels, as this selection was based on the confidence of the organizers of the global initiative to unify surveying standards in the value of our contribution to this initiative and our ability to enrich it with insights and ideas that will help develop unified surveying standards, which are is expected to have a profound positive impact in supporting the work of landowners and investors.
