The Ministry of Housing continued to strengthen its cooperation with cooperative and charitable associations by signing several memoranda of understanding to provide housing units that help ensure adequate housing for the members of these associations. The Ministry recently signed a memorandum of cooperation with the “Insan” Charitable Association for Orphan Care.The Ministry also announced the signing of an agreement with the King Abdullah Foundation for His Parents for Developmental Housing in its first phase to build 900 housing units.
Construction of 4,621 housing units
The memorandum of cooperation, which was recently signed in Riyadh, the Ministry of Housing and the “Insan” Charitable Society for Orphan Care, the construction of 4,621 housing units.
The memorandum stipulates cooperation between the two parties in the field of housing for families receiving social security benefits and those in similar circumstances, as well as the coordination of efforts on common issues and topics of mutual interest, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Housing, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail.
The agreement, signed by Abdullah bin Muhsin Al-Nimri, General Supervisor of Cooperative and Affordable Housing at the Ministry of Housing, and Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Youssef, Director General of the “Insan” Charitable Society for Orphan Care Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Yousef, is part of the Ministry’s strategic objectives to support supply, stimulate demand, and facilitate citizens" access to adequate housing, while serving all segments of society, It also seeks to fulfill the provisions of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by creating the necessary environment for the nonprofit sector to take the initiative in addressing challenges and capitalizing on opportunities, and by providing adequate housing for families unable to afford it, in addition to empowering the sector to become more effective in the housing sector, research, social programs, and cultural events, and, as outlined in the Vision, striving to increase the nonprofit sector’s contribution to gross domestic product from less than 1% to 5%, while serving the public good and supporting housing projects in all regions, provinces, and centers of the Kingdom.
Supporting areas of cooperation
An agreement was also reached between the Ministry of Housing and the ”Insan" Charitable Society for Orphan Care "Insan" to strengthen their existing relationship by collaborating to unify and coordinate efforts in the housing sector in accordance with a shared vision and objectives, in addition to exchanging information between the two parties regarding the verification of data and information pertaining to beneficiaries.
The memorandum stipulates that the Ministry of Housing shall provide the other party with the locations of housing projects and the scheduled start date for each project, as well as the number of housing units allocated for low-income beneficiaries, including social security recipients, in each project.
Strategic Objective
Abdullah bin Mohsen Al-Nimri, General Supervisor of Cooperative and Affordable Housing, noted that this joint agreement between the Ministry and the "Insan" Association comes within the framework of government agencies" directive to cooperate and coordinate with private-sector entities and work jointly to serve citizens and facilitate and expedite all procedures that lead toward the Ministry’s strategic goal of supporting supply and enabling demand, and facilitating citizens" access to suitable housing with diverse options, high quality, and affordable prices.
Social Security Units
In the same context,the Ministry of Housing announced the launch of a joint initiative with the King Abdullah Foundation for His Parents for Developmental Housing by activating the previously established partnership between the two parties, which targets low-income groups, as the agreement, in its first phase, includes the construction of 900 housing units distributed across nine regions for social security beneficiaries, in addition to an agreement to schedule periodic meetings and form a joint committee to monitor implementation.
The Ministry also held a meeting with a number of charitable organizations and nonprofit entities in the Eastern Province, to discuss avenues for cooperation and partnership aimed at serving certain segments of society and contributing to the provision of adequate housing for them through affordable programs, as part of efforts to achieve the objectives of the National Transformation Program 2020.
