Abha, winner of the title “Capital of Tourism,” has completed its preparations to welcome more than two million expected tourists, following the model of the previous tourism and shopping festival, which generated two billion riyals in spending, according to statistics from the Tourism Research and Information Center at the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage. Tourists have begun flocking to the Asir region, which has finalized its preparations by providing all necessary tourism services to welcome them, under the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Asir Region, and under the supervision and oversight of His Royal Highness Prince Mansour bin Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Region and Chairman of the Tourism Development Council.
On this occasion, the Director General of the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage and Secretary General of the region’s Tourism Development Council, Eng. Muhammad Al-Omra, explained that the programs and events of the ”Abha Brings Us Together Festival” began more than a year ago and will be managed by well-established institutions and companies specializing in event organization,” Al-Omra noted that the events encompass various types of tourism, including cultural, religious, artistic, sporting, family-oriented, and heritage-based activities, and that they cater to the interests of all segments of society.”
Al-Omra noted that Prince Mansour bin Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the region, who recently chaired the Tourism Development Council in its new session, under the guidance of His Highness the Governor of the region, had approved the restructuring of the festival’s organizing committees, which are composed of young women with experience and academic qualifications in the relevant fields, as His Highness oversees the festival in general and Al-Omra serves as the festival’s General Secretary.
