“The Housing and Justice Ministries are putting the finishing touches on a ”lease“ agreement to be launched in the coming months

Sources have revealed that the Ministries of Justice and Housing are currently putting the finishing touches on a standardized lease agreement, which will serve as an enforceable document, and will be launched within the next few months upon completion. They noted that it will limit the influx of cases to the courts and reduce rental disputes in the courts by more than 30%.

It is worth noting that the “Ijar” system governs the relationship between the landlord and the tenant by formalizing the lease agreement, and connects real estate offices in the Kingdom via a dedicated technical network, providing tenant information and credit history regarding rent payments and defaults, as well as payment schedules—whether monthly, semi-annual, or annual.

Through its online platform, “Ejar” provides a standardized, notarized contract agreed upon by the landlord and tenant to facilitate the conclusion and notarization of the contract. Its wording can be updated to ensure that the model electronic contract is enforceable in court.
