The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has enhanced the services it provides to businesspeople and the investment sector. Last week, Minister of Commerce and Investment Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, in the presence of 16 government agencies, launched the Unified Service Center for the "Maras" initiative last week, which will bring about a qualitative leap in the services provided to the investment sector.
40 e-services
The center provides access to 40 e-services from relevant government agencies in a single location, starting with the process of conducting business, including one-stop service centers with unified access to business sector services, interactive content on the requirements for starting a business with all relevant agencies, as well as a unified form for commencing business operations integrated with government agencies, and the electronic platform for business sector services.
Featured Services
Among the services provided by the Maras Center are electronic commercial registry services, opening a business file with the Ministry of Labor, issuing work permits, licensing sports halls and centers, utilizing the contract notarization service at the Ministry of Justice, registration and activation for the Absher service, and other government services. This reaffirms the Committee’s commitment to continued integration with relevant government agencies, streamlining procedures to ensure effectiveness and efficiency, and facilitating commercial activities in the Kingdom.
Next Phases
In the coming phases, the Marras initiative will include interactive content on its website that will help users learn how to start a business. This will be done in collaboration with government agencies and the private sector to provide government services and value-added services that facilitate starting and conducting business For example: investment opportunities, consulting, investment data, and training, which will help investors, entrepreneurs, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) enhance their capabilities, access additional opportunities, and obtain appropriate financial services.
Muras and the Indicators
Muras will have a major impact on several indicators, such as the Kingdom’s ranking in the Ease of Doing Business Index, and the Kingdom’s ranking in the Global Competitiveness Report, with the aim of achieving higher rankings in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Meras is also working to ensure that
the time required to start a business to one day for the majority of activities at present, in cooperation with other agencies.
16 government agencies
The Business Improvement Committee, which includes 16 government agencies (the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the Ministry of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the General Authority for Investment, the Small and Medium Enterprises Authority, the Audio-Visual Media Authority, the General Authority for Ports, and the General Customs Authority), aims to make the initiative a model to be emulated by creating facilities and fostering cooperation with relevant government agencies, This was exemplified by the opening of the Maras Center, through which the initiative seeks to provide government services and value-added services, thereby eliminating the need to travel between different government sectors by allowing citizens to access the required services in one location.
The committee will also continue to monitor and assess the need to open additional centers in cities across the Kingdom.
The center’s ongoing operations
It is worth noting that the Miras Center operates seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and on Fridays, the center opens its doors to beneficiaries from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in order to serve all beneficiaries, including investors and entrepreneurs.
