The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has renewed its call to all engineering firms and consulting firms that do business with it to promptly apply for classification from the Ministry’s Classification Agency, in order to ensure the completion of a classification system suitable for competing on government projects, with classification serving as a prerequisite for awarding government projects to engineering consulting firms and offices.
In a circular addressed to all agencies, secretariats, and general departments affiliated with the Ministry, as well as all ministries, government departments, public bodies, and institutions, the Ministry emphasized the importance of ensuring that companies are classified, The Ministry had previously issued a circular to the relevant authorities regarding the classification of companies and engineering consulting firms and the requirement that consultants include this classification in their bids to participate in government tenders, effective January 1,1439 AH, an approved certificate from the Ministry’s Agency for Contractor Classification stating that an application for classification has been submitted.
The development of the classification mechanism for companies and engineering consulting firms is in line with the National Transformation Program and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to advance the engineering consulting sector.
