The regional project tracking index “MEED Projects” has revealed that Dubai will see contracts awardedconstruction worth around $6 billion. The latest MEED report shows that the value of projects to be awarded will increase strongly when Emaar Properties is awarded the contract for the Dubai Creek Harbour shopping mall.
MED reported in late July that the developer plans to put the contract, expected to be worth between 15-18 billion, out to tender in early August. Other major projects that have been put out to tender include the Azizi skyscraper on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The Burj 2020 District project, the Automated Passenger Transportation System at Al Maktoum International Airport, infrastructure at Dubai Waterfront, Avenues Mall - Silicon Oasis, a hotel and resort in Deira Islands, Flags Theme Park and a tower at Dubai Marina. MEED reported that contractors in the emirate say they are excited by the volume of tenders that have been issued this summer and that construction companies will be selective in choosing which projects to bid on.
