The Ministry of Transportation launched the BMS bridge management system, which is internationally recognized for inspecting and evaluating the Ministry’s bridges and structures, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Transportation Engineer Saad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khalib, His Excellency the Undersecretary for Roads Engineer Majid Al-Arqoubi, Assistant Undersecretary for Operations and Maintenance Engineer Fayez Al-Harbi, and a number of engineers and specialists from the Ministry.

This system, which the Ministry has recently begun using, is one of the tools for leveraging technology in the management of bridge and infrastructure data through economic engineering models, The system also includes models for predicting future defects and necessary repairs based on the condition of each of the 4,914 bridges and structures on the Kingdom’s roads.

Engineer Mohammed Al-Anzi, Director General of Bridges and Structures at the Ministry of Transportation, said that the system’s importance lies in its ability to compare and assess the condition of bridges in each administrative region or across all administrative regions. In addition, it includes a feature for calculating the cost of repairs or future budgets with scientific precision for a predetermined time period, which enables the management of infrastructure projects in the Kingdom with scientific and engineering accuracy.
