The General Authority for Statistics has completed the preparatory work to enable government agencies involved in economic activities to implement the «National Classification of Economic Activities ,« which is derived from the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities, Fourth Revision (ISIC4) issued by the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and to adopt it as the official classification of economic activities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia starting next Monday, 14 Rabi" al-Thani, corresponding to January 1, 2018.
Taysir Al-Mufarraj, the official spokesperson for the General Authority for Statistics, explained that the Authority had recently held several workshops for relevant agencies and prepared a standardized manual and an electronic operations and communication portal in preparation for the implementation of the National Classification of Economic Activities which can be defined as the method by which statistical units are grouped according to a specific, sequential order based on homogeneous groups, with the aim of establishing a general framework for comparing statistical data at the local, regional, and international levels.
