<The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has issued an official decision to allocate chambers to hear bankruptcy and bankruptcy cases in commercial and appeal courts. Commercial cases and disputes arising from the application of the bankruptcy law will be heard by a commercial chamber in five appeal courts, in each of: Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, Eastern Province and Asir, in addition to a triple chamber in the Commercial Court, in each of: Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and each of the general courts where there are commercial departments. <This comes as part of the Supreme Judicial Council's study of “allocating chambers to hear commercial cases and disputes arising from the application of the bankruptcy law”, after it was presented to the Supreme Judicial Council at its sixth meeting. <The Supreme Judicial Council explained that this decision will be implemented from the date of its issuance, and will apply to cases and requests registered after its entry into force. Article 35 includes “bankruptcy cases” within the jurisdiction of the commercial courts for the lawsuits they hear, namely: All original and ancillary commercial disputes that occur between merchants, suits brought against a merchant because of his original and ancillary commercial activities, disputes that occur between partners in companies, all suits and violations related to commercial regulations, bankruptcy suits, bankruptcy and bankruptcy proceedings, and other commercial disputes.
