The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has allocated a plot of land measuring 38,400,000 square meters to the Ministry of Housing for the construction of housing units for citizens east of Riyadh.
Hamad Al-Omar, Head of the Public Relations and Media Department and official spokesperson for the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, explained, that the decision to allocate the land necessary for the housing project in Riyadh is an extension of the Ministry’s efforts to provide all government agencies with the land they need to carry out development and service projects in the fields of housing, health, education, security, social welfare, and other areas, thereby enhancing these agencies’ ability to carry out their duties in accordance with national development plans and programs.
He explained that the decision included instructions for the Riyadh Region Secretariat to complete the regulatory procedures and contact the Notary Public Office to clear the land allocated for the residential project—a plot located east of Riyadh— and to register it as state property in the name of the Ministry of Housing, which will, in turn, conduct soil surveys prior to applying for a permit and commencing construction, as well as conducting hydrological and engineering studies to preserve the wadis and flood channels passing near the site, thereby ensuring the protection of the facilities in coordination with the relevant authorities, provided that the deed specifies that the land is subject to the future preparation of a detailed master plan and that government service lands (religious, educational, security, and all other services), investment sites, and public lands—including streets, parks, and pedestrian walkways—be transferred to the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs before residential plots are transferred to citizens.
