The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has begun implementing the National Classification of Economic Activities ISIC4, effective January 1 of this year, in accordance with the Royal Decree mandating its adoption as the official and standardized classification of economic activities in the Kingdom.

The Ministry’s official spokesperson, Khalid Abaalkhail, said: «The National Classification of Economic Activities ISIC4 is intended to standardize economic activities and adopt international standards for their coding, with the aim of establishing a statistical foundation capable of producing reports and statistics on a regular and continuous basis.»

It is worth noting that the National Classification of Economic Activities—which is derived from the fourth revision of the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC4), issued by the United Nations Economic and Social Council, is considered the official classification of economic activities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
