The Ministry of Housing stressed that Cabinet Decision No. 405 stipulates that licensed real estate brokers must register residential and commercial rental contracts electronically through the electronic network “Ejar”.
The ministry clarified that those who violate this will be subject to the penalties of the Real Estate Offices Regulation, which may reach the revocation of the office's license permanently, and these penalties will be issued by a decision of the Minister of Commerce, indicating that the grievance may be appealed to the Board of Grievances within a period not exceeding 30 days.
The general supervisor of the regulation of the "rent" sector in the Ministry of Housing, Mohammed Al-Bati, indicated that the number of real estate establishments registered in the Ejar program reached 5500 establishments, indicating that there are establishments that did not register because they did not meet the necessary requirements.
In February 2017, the Ministry of Housing announced the opening of registration for real estate brokerage establishments and specified the requirements that must be met for the establishment to be able to complete registration in the electronic network for rental services. The program provides several services, including electronic payment of the summary value, periodic notifications of financial transactions and important alerts. Ejar will also provide a special database for each real estate broker through which he can save and retrieve all contracts made through him electronically without incurring any trouble to save and store paper documents.
