From the beginning of the current Hijri year through the 25th of Sha'ban, the courts have recorded a total of 3,624 cases involving inheritance disputes and the mandatory and voluntary division of estates, of which approximately 30% were filed in the courts of the M
Cases involving the mandatory division of “real estate” estates ranked first with 2,127 cases, of which 752 were filed in the courts of the Makkah region, representing 35% of the total cases, followed by the courts of the Riyadh region with 352 cases, then the courts of the Eastern Province with 248 cases, then the courts of the Asir region with 194 cases, and the courts of the Jazan region with 168 cases, compared to 108 cases involving the compulsory division of “real estate” estates registered in the courts of the Al-Qassim region. This was followed by cases involving the compulsory division of “financial” estates, totaling 883 cases, of which 215 were filed in the courts of the Riyadh region, and 200 cases in the courts of the Makkah region, which together accounted for 47% of the total cases. Next were the courts of the Madinah region with 168 cases, followed by the courts of the Eastern Province with 98 cases, followed by the courts of the Al-Qassim region with 39 cases, and 32 cases involving the compulsory “financial” division of estates registered with both the courts of the Asir region and the courts of the Tabuk region. As for inheritance cases, there have been 357 cases from the beginning of the current Hijri year through the 25th of Sha’ban, compared to 377 inheritance cases recorded by the courts during the entire previous Hijri year. Of these, 22% were filed with the courts of the Makkah Region (78 cases), followed by the courts of the Asir Region with 62 cases, then the courts of the Eastern Province, which recorded 57 cases, followed by the courts of the Riyadh region with 46 cases, compared to 28 cases recorded by the courts of the Al-Jawf region.
With regard to cases involving the optional division of “real estate” estates, the total number of cases as of the 25th of Sha’ban reached 174, of which approximately 22.5% were filed in the courts of the Makkah region (39 cases), followed by the courts of the Asir region with 26 cases, then the courts of the Eastern Province with 23 cases, then the courts of the Jazan region with 21 cases, followed by the courts of the Riyadh region with 20 cases, 16 cases in the courts of the Al-Baha region, and 8 cases in the courts of the Tabuk region.
Meanwhile, the number of cases involving the optional “financial” division of an estate reached 83, of which 22 were filed in the courts of the Makkah region, representing 26.5% of the total cases, followed by the courts of the Eastern Province with 14 cases, then the courts of the Asir region with 11 cases, then the courts of the Riyadh region with 9 cases, 7 cases filed with the courts of Al-Qassim and Jazan, 4 cases in the courts of the Tabuk region, and 2 cases each in the courts of Madinah, Najran, Al-Jawf, and the Northern Border region. It is worth noting that during the past year (1434 AH), the courts recorded a total of 4,909 cases related to inheritance and the mandatory and voluntary division of estates, of which approximately 32% were filed with the courts of Makkah al-Mukarramah.
