Transportation Minister Dr. Nabil Al-Amoudi issued a decision to revoke the contract for the implementation of Phase 9 in the Eastern Province from the contractors, The project involves the rehabilitation and expansion of the Abu Hadriya-Al-Khafji Road to three lanes over a length of 22 km, as well as the widening of the Al-Olia Village Road to two lanes over a length of 19 km, due to the contractor’s lack of seriousness in carrying out the work.
Meanwhile, the Ministry confirmed that the “stalled” Dammam Ring Road projects —which were withdrawn from the contractors—are on track to be re-awarded, and that it will not tolerate any contractor’s negligence nor stand idly by in the face of any flaws or shortcomings in their projects.
The director of the Ministry of Transportation’s Eastern Province branch, Eng. Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, confirmed that the re-tendering of two of the three stalled Dammam Ring Road projects—which had previously been withdrawn from the defaulting contractors—is in its final stages, and the third project is currently being put out for public bidding.
