The Real Estate Development Fund announced a reduction in the down payment for a first home from 10 % to 5%, following an assessment of certain challenges facing the housing sector.
This was clarified by Khalid Al-Amoudi, General Supervisor of the Real Estate Development Fund,
Al-Amoudi added that this measure is intended to ease the burden of the down payment required by financing institutions.
He noted that the initiative pertaining to military personnel will end soon.
The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) decided last January to increase the maximum mortgage financing ratio specified in Article (12) of the Executive Regulations of the Real Estate Financing System from (85%) to (90%) of the value of the first home for citizens.
