Data from the General Authority for Statistics «GASTA» for the second quarter of 2018 showed a decrease in the total number of employed persons based on administrative records in the Kingdom for the second quarter of 2018, reaching (13,018,066) individuals compared to (13,333,513) individuals in the previous quarter—a decrease of (315,447) individuals from the previous quarter. The number of Saudi employees, as recorded in administrative records, decreased by (25,066) individuals, reaching (3,125,343) individuals compared to (3,150,409) individuals in the previous quarter, The number of male Saudi workers decreased by (14,787), and the number of female Saudi workers decreased by (10,279).
According to estimates from the second quarter of 2018 survey, the economic participation rate for the total population (aged 15 and older) rose to (56.2%) compared to (55.5%) in the previous quarter, and the economic participation rate for the total Saudi population rose to (42.0%) compared to 41.9% in the previous quarter The economic participation rate for Saudi men remained stable at 63.5%, while the economic participation rate for Saudi women rose to (19.6%) compared to (19.5%) in the previous quarter, reaching (12.9%).The unemployment rate for the total population (aged 15 and older) decreased, based on estimates from the second-quarter 2018 Labor Force Survey.
